Welcome to the Jungle! Dinosaurs & Speaking Teddybears Dec, 2018

Inland Empire (2006) has been praised by critics as a piece of art, with fans of David Lynch’s work swooning over its convoluted storytelling, earning it somewhat of a cult following – as is the case with many of Lynch’s more abnormal movies. While the movie lacks the desirable aesthetics and hasn’t earned quite enough of a fan base to be made into an online game, many other movies with a cult following have been able to achieve such a feat. These are the best movie-themed online slot games:

Ted Online Slot

From the makers of Family Guy came the quirky comedy Ted, starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Mr Family Guy himself, Seth MacFarlane. The film is about a boy whose wish for his teddy bear to come to life comes true, but fast forwards to a time when the boy has become a man, and the bear has joined him in becoming a foul-mouthed, beer-chugging adult. One of the most iconic moments in the movie is when Ted meets his hero Sam J. Jones who starred in the much-loved cult classic Flash Gordon movies. With so many jokes taking place in the same style of Family Guy but with a comedic and yet heartfelt storyline, Ted earned a dedicated following, leading to a sequel and a smash-hit online game being made.

Created by the fans of Ted at Blueprint in 2017, this online slot game takes place over five reels, three rows, 20 paylines, and boasts a jackpot of 100,000 coins. The game captures the wacky and eccentric events of the film with its many randomly triggered features, which include Beer Shuffle, Lazer Gun Infectious Wilds, and three different Psychedelic features.

Jurassic World Slots

Jurassic Park first hit the big screen in 1993, starring Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, and Inland Empire’s show-stopper Laura Dern. The thrills of seeing dinosaurs brought back to life and hunting down humans earned a serious cult following, with two more films added to create a dinosaur movie franchise. Jurassic Park expanded into many mediums, which included a slew of games on computers, consoles, handheld devices, and the online slot game of Jurassic Park. The fan base held strong over the next couple of decades, warranting a reboot in the form of Jurassic World.

Jurassic World uses a similar formula of bringing dinosaurs back from extinction, setting up a park for tourism, and then it all going wrong, leading to the dinosaurs escaping and causing havoc. But, there’s an underlying, much more cynical plot of Dr Henry Wu genetically engineering super-dinosaurs to sell to the military, leading to the creation of the Indominus Rex. The reboot was immensely popular, rekindling people’s love of dinosaurs in movies all over again, which urged Microgaming to create a sequel to its Jurassic Park online slot game.

Microgaming’s Jurassic World online slot game is filled with dinosaurs from the movie, such as the tyrannosaurus-rex, velociraptor, and ankylosaurus, to appease fans of prehistoric life, as well as the new characters from the movie – played by Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt. Filled with features that let you win big by exploring the Jurassic World park, players seek the arrival of the dreaded Indominus Rex for an instant win reward.

Jumanji Slot Game

Originally released in 1995, the crazy adventure of being in the world of a board game became a huge hit, with Jumanji being used as a pop-culture reference for decades to come. Then, at the end of 2017, the sequel was released to an unexpectedly warm reception, with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle going toe-to-toe with the latest Star Wars movie at the time. Its immense gross of over $962 million proved that the cult following for the original movie is still going strong.

In 2018, NetEnt sought to capitalise on the love of both the original and new Jumanji movies, creating a slot game that’s based on the 1995 movie’s board game but with all of the modern features and graphics that would appeal to newer fans of the movies. The Jumanji online slot takes place over a 3-4-5-4-3 layout with 36 paylines and an RTP of 96.55 per cent. The drum beats, jungle noises, and animal icons immerse the player in the world of Jumanji, but it’s the special Board Game feature which has players testing their skill on the actual Jumanji game. Thanks to its many kickbacks to the movie through a slew of thrilling features, the online slot game based on a cult classic now has its own cult following.

As you can see, many great movies and cult classics get made into online slot games that appeal to their fan base through a unique set of symbols and special features.
